Argentina reach Copa America final with 2-0 win over Canada

Messi scores 109th international goal

Defending champions Argentina have booked their place in the Copa America final after goals from Julian Alvarez and Lionel Messi gave them a 2-0 victory over Canada in the semi-final.

Argentina took the lead in the 28th minute when Alvarez converted a rebound after Messi's shot was saved. Messi then made it 2-0 in the 57th minute with a trademark left-footed finish from outside the area.

Canada had a chance to reduce the deficit in the second half but Jonathan David's penalty was saved by Emiliano Martinez.

Argentina will now face either Brazil or Uruguay in the final on Sunday.
