Colorado Rockies: A History of Success and Struggles

From the Mile High City to the Playoff Picture

The Colorado Rockies are a professional baseball team based in Denver, Colorado. They play in the National League West division of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Rockies were founded in 1993 as an expansion team, along with the Florida Marlins.

Early Success and High Hopes

In their first season, the Rockies finished with a record of 67-95. However, they quickly improved and made their first playoff appearance in 1995. They won the National League Wild Card that year but lost to the Atlanta Braves in the Division Series.

The Rockies continued to be a competitive team in the late 1990s and early 2000s. They won the National League pennant in 2007 but lost to the Boston Red Sox in the World Series. The Rockies have not made the playoffs since 2018.

Recent Struggles and a Bright Future

The Rockies have struggled in recent years. They have finished with a losing record in each of the past five seasons. However, there are signs of hope for the future. The Rockies have a young and talented roster, led by infielder Trevor Story.

The Rockies are also building a new stadium, which is scheduled to open in 2023. The new stadium will be state-of-the-art and will provide the Rockies with a much-needed home-field advantage.
